Awning Windows
Ventilation that works in the rain
Awning windows are hinged at the head and open outward from the bottom, forming a small canopy over the opening. That geometry is the whole point — light rain runs off the sash rather than into the room, so the window can stay open for airflow in weather that would force a slider or casement shut. They suit high openings, bathrooms and kitchens beautifully, and pair well with fixed glass below to keep an uninterrupted outlook.
